Bad news and good news. The forum is back
The bad news is that I expected that on July 20th new photos from Panoramio were going to be added to Google Earth, but I was wrong. I am deeply sorry for that. The next update will be around August 15th.
The good news. The forum is finally back. Yes, it has been a too long delay, almost two months. The forum was disabled until we could update to a more secure version. It was supposed to be something very fast, but because the forum was integrated with Panoramio accounts it was not that fast. Then some other urgent issues appeared and delayed the work in the forum. In this wonderful world you know when you start something, but not when you can finish it. Anyway, now the forum is back with more forums and some changes.
As you can imagine moving to Zurich and working in a new place delays some things, but the acquisition by Google already brought some very good things:
- Now we can know the date of the next update to Google Earth in advance. Thus we can tell to you when your photos will be included in Google Earth and the status of each photo in Google Earth (selected, rejected or in waiting list). Those were the very frequent asked questions by the people and I am very happy that I can finally answer them. We have also re-written some parts of the help page.
- Now everyone can see your photos inside Google Maps. In Google Maps.com (.com only) go to “My Maps” tab, check “Photos from Panoramio” and enjoy!
- Panoramio infrastructure is more robust now. The upload system is working much better and the number of people having trouble uploading photos dropped dramatically. You can also explore the World with Panoramio’s map more smoothly.
Welcome back to the forum!

Hi! Im new here. I like all features of Panoramio, it´s so easy. But, where´s the option to put coordinates at time to upload photos (without locate each one on the map) I hope that my photos will be included in Google Earth someday…
Excellent news! I was hoping there would be a status display on this site soon
The majority of my photos are in the 35xxxxx id range. Do you think they will be uploaded on the 15th August Schedule?
I agree with Ekim, I’d like to just give the coordinates and voila! the photo is located! I also have a question: Where’s the photo information (camera, exposure, etc) gone?
Excelent job, salud!!!
Hi Panoramio Team,
on google earth but in the same time i am very glade that you add the status of the photos … this will help us alot to track when we will see our photos on google earth ……
Congratulations about getting the forum back to life ….. and i felt sorry when i knew that i will wait until 15 august to some my oldest newest photo
and go on panoramio
Looks good so far. All the old stuff seems to be there. Great work, guys. And the “review” notations on our photos is appreciated too. It gets better and better.
Thanks again,
Thanks for the forum being back and new features. I knew you were up to something. As one of my friends says: Respect & understanding! =)
Thanks guys for your messages, they make me happy
Ekim and herenvaryar, you can map photos by writing directly the coordinates in the search field in both hexagesimal or decimal format.
Thomas, I don’t believe we can reach 35xxxxx id range in August, for for the next update in September. We need to find ways to go faster with the reviews.
Eduardo
Woo hoo!!! I about gave up on the Forum ever coming back!!!
Hi Eduardo.
The Panoramio check box works in maps.goolge.co.uk, too.
Matthew
How do you upload, what is the procedure, to have my photo’s shared in the forum index: ’share your photos’? Is there a help file on how to use the forum.
thx,
Jan
The next update will be around August 15th?
I wish I could as postivive as the previous comments but I find that Panraimo has not become better at all.Its just as hard as it was before. I have tried many times to get the photos in the right place but its impossible I know others have as I veiw their pics, but I also notice many photos are not in the right place as I have been to the very spot where the photo was taken and did not see what is presented in the picture here, it looks like other people are having the same difficulty as me as well. So I wonder if the instructions to do it are in a different language than English because the what to do and how to do doesnt make it work.Your intructions greatly lack in the detail how to do it step by step. Now get your act togethr and become great like you really can be.Oh and what about an alpabetical sort on the names of places we have looked at.Its worse than a dogs breakfast trying to locate places often visted because they are not in order.
