Geotagging contest in Panoramio
Today we have launched the geotagging monthly contest in Panoramio sponsored by ATP.
Rules:
- To participate simply use the link “Submit to the contest” located under each photo and choose one category.
- Users can submit as many photos as they want, but there is only one prize per person.
- One photo can participate in only one category and get only one prize.
- Only geolocated photos in Panoramio will be included.
- Updated: Only photos uploaded during the monthly contest previous month can be submited, for example, only photos uploaded in April March, can participate in the April contest.
Prizes:
- Winner: 1 ATP Photofinder + 1 1 ATP ProMaxII UDMA-ready CF (4GB) or 1 ATP ProMax SDHC Class 6 (4GB) for the winner of each category.
- Runner up: 1 ATP Photofinder + 1 ATP Petito USB drive 512MB for the runner-up of each category.
- Honorable mentions: 1 ATP Petito USB drive 512MB for honorable mentions (5 in each category).
There will be 28 new winners each month. In the contest page you can see more details about the contest and the prices.

Nice April fool
If it is an April Fool, ATP is in on it too, because their website mentions this contest. Quite an elaborate gag! The links on my site seem to work. I like this idea. I would not mind having the equipment!
You may be right, ther aren’t many participants visible.

Nice idea! Interesting new dimension for Panoramio.
Only one remark: the descriptions of the categories “Travel” and “Unusual locations” are opposite on the panoramio contest page and the page where you can select the right category for a photo.

thanks for starting the contest. I have a problem though: yesterday I submitted 3 photos but I don’t see them in the gallery of partecipants. Today I did it with one more and it worked.
Those that did not appear in the gallery do not have the “submit to contest” possibility any longer…
What can we do ?
Considering that you are using one of my pics as an example ( scenery) I expect a kind answer from you !

I have bigger problem, because I do not have any possibility to submit my photos. There is no link “submit contest” under my geolocated photos. Help Eduardo !

Dear Eduardo, I solved all of my minor troubles in the meantime… but I have a suggestion for the future contests: not more than 3 pics per category per person.
I have the feeling that letting people load dozens of “so-so” pictures may kill the contest.

I would enter the contest but I bought an ATP photofinder a couple of months ago. In fact they lost the first one in the mail but it turned up three weeks later meaning I got two. Neither of them work in any meaningful way. Even in the best conditions it can take an hour or more to find a signal which is then tends to lose at the drop of a hat. I also found that the few it did tag were often way off their original location. Some were even close to ten miles away in places I’d never even been near to.
Their support basically said they couldn’t do anything and that it must just be “my area”. Considering I tried using it in four cities and on separate sides of the globe I think its the device.

Since some minutes ago you can submit your photos from April to the Panoramio contest, now all your photos uploaded in April will have the link “submit to the contest”. Those photos can be voted during May, then they will get the “vote” button.
By the way, the winners of photos uploaded in March, that are being voted in April, will be known on May 15th.

How should I do the uploading to have automatic plaCEMENT ON THE MAP?

Can’t find an address to email to so this appears to be the next best thing. just got an email from panoramio, someone had left a comment to say thanks for publishing a photo and that i had qualified for a special gift and to click. don’t know the names and not game to click. comment was from Altobelljanessa1954. Does anyone know if it’s legitimate or not.

L’une de mes photos a eu l’honneur d’etre chosit parmis les prises primées et comme je suis nulle en anglais, je n’ai pas pu suivre tous les proçedures et les resultats de ce concours que de trés loin; Et j’ignore meme à qui je doit m’adresser pour avoir le prix indiqué, genereusement je demande renseigements à ce qui peut me guider jusqu’au ou je puisse arrivé à une réponse à ma demande et mieux comprendre c’est que j’ai à faire merci rached.
