More new photos in Google Earth
August 6th, 2008 by Eduardo Manchón
Some hours ago photos up to ID 12300000 have been added to Google Earth, so we have got yet another 700,000 new photos.
The next update will be around September 22th and will include photos reviewed before September 10th.
By the way, you may have realized that we are having some trouble adding new photos to Panoramio’s map. Photos that are missing will be added to the map when we fix these issues, you don’t need to upload them again. Sorry for the problems!
Update 12 August: Problem fixed. New photos are again added to the map. Photos uploaded before this fix, will be added to the “all” tab during the next days.

Thanks a lot
The new icons are very, very bad to see. May, that the old once were obstrusive, but you can see and reqognize them faster. Now it ist very hard to see cameras if you are far above the ground.

The new icons look crappy especially in areas with lots of buildings.
There seems to be a general trend with Google to make GE look more and more confusing.
I guess there is another problem. Some of my photos are selected for Google Earth, but I can’t see them on Google Earth! ( e.g. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/12563727 )
Thanks,
Payam
Exactly ! Let’s go back to old signs !!!
Are you kidding? The little squares are unobtrusive and the big squares show various photos of the location under them. As far as I’m concerned, this is a big improvement.
Saludos. rutas.
Another suggestion: to put a blue dot inside the quads, like the old one. Belief it`s better to find opposite to the contrast of GE-Map.
Let’s hope you will soon fix this map placement issue. The “map” feature is THE big thing in Panoramio !
In some ways I think the Google Earth icons are a good change, small and unobtrusive so they clear up the map nicely. The larger “information” icons including photos are a great idea. But as they’re being called the “grey ghosts” are extremely hard to see. If you’re going to make small icons, can you do it in any colour a bit brighter and easier to see than grey?
Anonymous - The large squares are part of the new Places function. This is NOT the same as individual shots. The individual shots are now Grey Ghosts, which are very difficult to see and therefoe easy to miss.
Don’t mix these two different grey squares up.
If the colour of these **Grey Ghosts** was changed to blue, or even a return to the blue dot at the same size of these squares, then I’m sure the complaining of disgruntled GE users would stop.
btw, why post as Anonymous?
Regards, Tony
The new little squares are so unobtrusive that they can be very difficult to find, especially in built-up areas.
The idea of the blue dot inside the little square is a good one, it should make them easier to see. Or maybe a brighter colour that would stand out a bit more.

Lesley
hallo eduardo,
you have added pics to 12.300.000 –
i have pics nr . 1.736.312 from 2007-04-11 to 2.529.619 from 2007-06-02
there are not checked and not added — i report 5 times but not checked — please an you inspect - ok –
thanks tater
Please, return old “blue circles” as marks of photos! These grey squares are very diffucult to see. If somebody does not like “cluttered icons in popular areas”, he or she always can switch off the corresponding layer.
As a palliative, allow the user of GE to select an icon which he like to use for photos.
i want to know how to get photo in to google map
plz tell me!!
Pictures do not open. Am just getting a big grey sq. ?
Tried uninstall / install - no help
tried moving cache - no help
Any other ideas
Jessica G., GrayNomad,
I agree your opinion of the “gray ghosts”. Light blue colour is better to find in the map, whether squares or small “blue circles”, as Vladimir wrote.
I tested it in the map, and it doesn`t merge with no point in the map.
I`m voting for light blue colour inside the “gray-squares”, like the blue dots were.
Wrote this also in the Forum “Blue Dots have changes!”
Best regards, Fred

Sorry, make a mistake!!!
I agree Your opinion, Jessica and Gray.
I`m voting for light blue colour inside the “ghost-squares”, like the blue dots were.
Belief me, they`re better to find in the map, and it shouldn`t be so difficult to do that, than changing the dimension of the squares.
I tested it with a small square in a downloaded map, and it doesn`t merge with no point in the map.
Wheter this squares (I like them) or small “blue dots”, as Vladimir wrote.
Regards, Fred
The little gray squares blend in with the terrain. Make them another color and maybe us old folks with the reading glasses will not have to lean in to the monitor to see them. Flying around the earth to view these great photos are a great pastime for us who will never get to visit these places. Make it easier instead of harder for us. Thanks
Sorry but ¿what about adding a Configure option in Google Earth to let everyone choose de color (and size, and shape, and transparency, end whatever you want
of the signs?
At last, it’s local work for everyone’s computer…
I suppose my new pictures will also appear on the map under “your photos”
Yesssss!
The Panoramio map works again !
Enhorabuena el Senõr Eduardo & the Panoramio team
For those who can’t wait for the updating of their pictures to take place, just update the position of your pics on the mad (click on modify position, don’t change the location of the picture, just click on “set the new position” or whatever it’s called in your language and … you’re done
Spent nearly an hour yesterday uploading photos… Still not on Google Earth. What’s the deal? Are they vetted first or is this a technical problem?
I am adding a couple of hundred postcards under “Hwy 99 Museum”. When I click on the “Your photos in Google Eath”, it only seems to show the last 30 in the “Places” pane, under my user ID. Is there a way to get it to show all the pictures I’ve uploaded? I’ve current uploaded 54, with many more to come. Thanks in advance.

Just to let you know, the shots are very defined. You should be very proud of your accomplishments. I hope to see more in the future.
Thank You
What a wonderful site! The volume of photos to be processed is truly staggering. I was so excited to wait for the August 10th date for my photos to show up on GE- and here you were early. Thanks for the great idea.
como an visto ja mis fotos se yo non las vejo?
Congratulations on another expansion on the number of photos, I really like browsing all the different pictures. Keep up the nice work!
Enzos , if you had bothered to read the blog entry to which you are responding it would have gone a long way to answering your question.

Well , I am having a trouble with creating new tags, adding photos, and closer I go to the pint of interst more photo is disapearing and at about 1000m above, plunk, plunk, plunk and all are gone.
Something is definitively wrong after latest upgreate of the site.
I did put quite a lot of photos so far, but could not put anymore them new photos from our recent “European vacation”. Pity
I did dask Eduardo what could be wrong, but still no answer,
And about these new icons they OK.
Tad
I am really enjoying the actual photos of places. I am curious as to why they are at random throughout the United States? Does anyone know also when there will be photos for the southern part of Indiana and more rural areas?
Thanks!
