New update: 2 million new photos from Panoramio added to Google Earth
Last evening Google Earth updated the Panoramio layer adding almost 2 million photos. We added photos up to around ID 6,700,000 almost duplicating the amount of photos available in Google Earth.
We finally could fix one of the most requested issues in Panoramio; the backlog of reviewed photos. The backlog has been reduced from 1 million in early December to less than 100,000 right now. That means that a new uploaded photo is reviewed after only 7 days and will be included in the next update for Google Earth (if selected). Our team of reviewers have been working very hard during Christmas for catching up the backlog. I want to thank Fran Martinez specially for that. I am very happy to announce this and I am also so glad to see my photos from vacations in Azores Islands finally in Google Earth
However we had a couple of problems. First the ID counter is broken and the revision status located below each photo is not changing. Thus it seems we are not reviewing photos anymore, but believe me, your photos are been reviewed now only after few days. Second there is a gap, photos from ID 6,400,000 to 6,520,000 have not been reviewed, so they have not been included in this update. However this gap is already fixed and those photos will be included in the next update (revision status have not changed because of the first bug). We expect these bugs to be fixed shortly, sorry for them.
By the way next update will be around March 15th. I hope you enjoy the new photos in Google Earth as much we do.

I dont expect to see an artists fun-photo/pic when trying to see Everest. Not becoming to Google - Thank you
I wish you guys would do blog updates like this more often. It’s good to read this information! Sometimes I feel like we’re left out in the dark and don’t always know what’s going on behind the scenes.
Hello…just a curious question:
How many people do you have that look at these pictures?
Do you have only one work-station for checking the photos, or you have more of them all around the world?
And how does the work look like?
They are sitting behind the computer and watching amazing photos coming from all over the world, and when it is time for a meal, they go to chat with some friends and show them some great photos they’ve just seen
I just think it is a great job
Specially for photographers and those who’d like to see the world caught on the picture.

It’s been a month since I uploaded the first of about 110 photos, but since then, the waiting list is “right now” frozen in number 6754122. What’s up? When will I know what happened with my photos?.
Hey - Thanks for adding such a cool feature to the google earth offerings! I have found out so much about wilderness trips by actually seeing a picture of the destination Im interested in visiting ~ How do you know if a river is clear for good fishing without a nice photo!!!
Hi,
I have indeed noticed how quickly you review the pictures. It’s good to see them in Google Earth. Will there be a limit to what you are able to store?
Chuck
I’m not sure which link took me to this site but it looks quite interesting. How does one use it? I cannot seem to get to a main or home page.
Thanks you,
