New update: around 300,000 photos added to Google Earth

April 9th, 2008 by Eduardo Manchón

On Monday April 7th Google Earth updated the Panoramio layer adding around 300,000 new photos, that was earlier than we expected (April 12th).

Selected images up to ID 8,620,000 are now in Google Earth. The next update will be online on May 25th and will include photos reviewed until May 5th.

Thanks Eduardo, but did you mean April 5th or May 5th as cut off for reviewed photos?

April 7 to May 25 is about seven weeks.
Why such a long gap between updates?

You are right, I meant May 5th, now it is corrected.

    Jan 25th - Uploaded 2,000,000 shots
    Mar 14th - Uploaded 600,000 shots
    Apr 7th - uploaded 300,000 shots

    I think I see a trend forming here…

    Galatas,
The Google Earth Upload is due May 25th.
This will include photos reviewed and accepted for GE up to May 5th.

    Thanks Tony.

It was Eduardo’s reply to your post on APR 18th (above) that got me confused.

    I meant to add ……

Pity Eduardo didn’t explain the reason for such long gap between uploads.
I think seven weeks is excessive and may lead to some users losing interest. I’m normally a very patient chap , but even I find such a long delay , added to the long review times , extremely frustrating and annoying.
