Panoramio available in Arabic language. 34 translations and growing!
Thanks to Usama Fath Panoramio is now translated Arabic language. We are very happy that Panoramio is now available for the approx. 400 million people around the World that speak Arabic.
In the last months Panoramio has been also translated to Serbian (Dragan Djukic), Traditional Chinese (David Hing Cheong Hung), Persian (Hessam Moosavi), Brazilian Portuguese (Sergio de Castro, Cleber Lima, Jadilson Torres and Adriana Monteiro), Slovenian (Nina Litrop), Finnish (Timo Rossi), Greek (Tasos & Kostas Koutsavlis), Norwegian (Bo Eide) and Bulgarian (Andrey Kirkov and Boyan Ivanov Bonev). Many other languages will be available in the next weeks. We want to thank all the translators for the great work and the continuous update of the translations.
As I said before in this blog, because Panoramio is about places around the World, we are are committed to make Panoramio available in the language/s or each place. Funny enough I just got what one could call “panorablogspam”, a long blog comment on several of my photos, all of it in arabic. I saw that other photos of other people in Panoramio also got the same text from the same source, all photos seem to be related to Middle East. It made me uneasy because I could not read what was a very long and repeating text and I could not dig its purpose, even after I put it through to an automatic translating web; the text seems to be a prayer related to some confrontation or figth. One cannot ask everyone to express himself in English (see, you are Spaniard as me), but it would be wise to find some way to link all this initiative to some translation service or get all to agree to some communication code so we can understand what others are commenting on our photos. On one of the photos I decided to erase all blog, but one doesn’t even know if this betters or worsen things because one doesn’t really understand what is writen or why, all I know is that it is not because he likes or dislikes the photo. So there goes my idea on translations; let’s do something to undo this Babel Tower and reinforce Panoramio as the instrument of communication and understanding which already is. Best.

É com grande satisfação que conheci recentemente o Panoramio: uma ferramenta sensacional para conhecer as maravilhas do nosso planeta terra e fazer novos amigos(sem sair de casa)!!!
Estou familiarizando com esta grande tecnologia e me incentiva a registrar cada momento de uma viagem e compartilhar com mais diversos adeptos do Panoramio!!!
Estou programando uma viagem para o mês de janeiro/2008 e o Panoramio está revelando, está ajudando no meu planejamento e roteiro. É uma maravilha!!!
Há muito tempo que eu tirava as minhas fotos, mas já não tinha mais motivação porque não havia compartilhamento com amigos. Com Panoramio a história mudou, posso compartilhar com todo mundo, que maranilha!!!
É bom lembrar que o Panoramio ajuda na concientização para preservar o nosso mundo em que vivemos e conhecer novos valores (culturais, naturezas, povos, artes, e outros)!!!

It’s nice to have had panoramio with certain language, I wonder if you can also make some translation in Bahasa Indonesia, where there are 250.000.000 population and more than 20% are internet users. Don’t know if panoramio can do this, but maybe it will means alot to our people if panoramio can be read by Indonesian member who has broken english as mine.
I do really hope that panoramio will think of it. Thankyou.
Tiny detail: I see today in the main page the Cappadocia area, stated as: “Capadocia in Turquia”. This must be a mix of languages
Either “Cappadocia in Turkey” (double “p”) or “Capadocia en Turquía” fit better.
