Some time ago I uploaded one picture on Gippsland Lakes Victoria without
problem (under nikname Harrier 720).I think that I've got average knowlage
about computer. At present time is impossible to me upload Panoramio photos into Google Earth.Too sofisticated upgrated program is removing part of users to use it.Extra ikon would be very usefull.

I'm with NiKo. I'm not going to give up Flickr. But I'd like to have a copy on Panoramio so that my images show up in Google Maps. An upload API would allow someone to hack together a script to go find images on Flickr and drag them over here, tagged and ready to go.

Yup, I want to speak with them about that. It's a recurrent problem for all the photo sites.

In fact, two days ago I was skimming through the new proposals to see if that kind of stuff has already been touched.

Happily enough, the new control for uploading files in the web forms 2.0 specification makes it possible for a user to choose several files at the same time, and to filter them by their mime type.

Styling the control is considered a security risk. Here I can just hope new browsers will make a better job in the future.

But there seems to be nothing to poke the status of the current open queries in the page. So making a progress bar to show the percentage of file that has been uploaded will be as hard as before. I will ask in the whatwg list about that kind of functionality.

You're really pushing the boundries with these sort of applications, have you considered chatting to the folk at WHATWG (http://www.whatwg.org/) about what you've found difficult? They're trying to standardise this kind of stuff.
