This is a most unusual silhouette Graham.
I like the image of this stunted Palm throwing out new shoots in a TRIFFID like manner.
Great shot. It gets my vote.
The literal truth is they are the flower spikes on an Aloe ferox, Jim - but then again if we're doing literal truth, I had to line up my shot to hide my car behind the central aloe, and we all know that pictures are about what you see in them not what they're of, as you poetically observe. It was actually one of those satisfying shots that I previsualised and managed to get much as I wanted (bar parking the car in the wrong place.) Thanks, as always, for your interesting observations and your support. Graham
Wonderful image. Very nice. Greetings, Juan.
Thank-you Juan :)
That's good work
Thanks, picsonthemove It's one of those pictures you plan in advance and it actually works out as you planned. I made onemstake with where I parked the car, but i managed to hide it behind the aloe. ;-) Graham
nominating this photo for "Best of Panoramio" greeting from Poland, Peter contest
For me it is a very happy memory of a time when I had the liesure to take the pictures I wanted to and to even plan them out in advance, Peter - I love the Karoo, and I hope that love shows in the pictures I took there. Graham
thanks for coming back again Peter - this has always been a personal favourite - not least because of the excitement of getting the slides back from the processor and seeing that it was exactly what i wanted for once :D
Thanks Santa Peter - the picture is a favourite of mine - full of good memories.
