What a fantastic change from the years I was there in 1950-1951. Served with the 82nd Engineers when we bridged the Han several times with various types of bridges.

This is a great shot. Would you be interested in displaying it on Panoramic Earth? The site has an inbuilt panorama viewer and links the images to an interactive map. Would be great to hear form you.

good photo of seoul.but as a chinese,I feel strange that why seoul changed its name in chinese. That hints the lack of confidence of this nation. "Dare not to face its own history! " Maybe a joke!Do not be angry!

South korea gov has change the city's name from seoul(汉城) to "首尔", that is the very reason I speak of that! In history, this city's name is always "汉城""汉人之城" That is quite true!

In September 1950, we of the 2nd Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, after crossing the Han River, occupied Namsam Mountain. For the next 3 or 4 days we were attacked by North Korean units. Fighting was very intense, but we held the mountain. Sadly, we lost some very good, young, men there.
