Dear Friend! Happy New Year 2014 to You and Your Family...!!!
Greetings From Caracas - Venezuela...!!!
Thank you very much, Nelson! You already make the new year bright for me at the end of December! Here I have traveled south from Newport News, crossing the historic James River and driving west near the historic Nansemond River to find this beautiful old Methodist church in what is late afternoon for our wintertime here. We have not yet had snow here in 2013; it will probably come in the New Year.
Happy New Year to you and your family! Best wishes from Swampland, Virginia!
Holy crap Douglas! This is a home run if ever there was one.
Thank you, r.w.! I am very happy to be able to bring it to you in Panoramio, as it is a pretty far distant church from where you live--not to mention from where Nelsachi lives--, and Driver is not now on a main-traveled route, although it is not remote from the cities.
As with many places in Virginia, the Twentieth Century transition from primarily water travel to primarily road travel has isolated a number of great historic treasures, in some cases--as here--preserving them very beautifully indeed.
Like, well done beautiful church, Happy New Year, greetings Leo
Thank you, Leo! It is clear that a tremendous amount of money and effort has been put into the "restoration" of this church, but I feel the result has produced a "new church" that must be very representative of the original. There is a lot of information about the church and even floor plans at Google but unfortunately there is not yet a history of the church posted there.
