The Thomas Currell at rest. Formerly served as HMNZS Thomas Currell and functioned throughout World War II as a minesweeper vessel. Currently beached and deteriorating on the coast of Chatham Island. During the crayfish boom in the 1960's she was sent to Port Hutt (Chatham Islands) to act as freezer depot. In 1968 she was deemed to be of no further use and was deliberately run ashore.
