Isola dei Pescatori, Lago Maggiore, Italy

Isola dei Pescatori (German: Fischerinsel), and Isola Superiore called (German Obere Insel), one of the Borromean Islands in Lake Maggiore. It is the only island in the lake, since the beginning of the 14th Century is still home to permanent.

The elongated island stretches to a length of about 350 m from northwest to southeast and is at the widest point approximately 100 m wide. The 3.4 hectares of land are cultivated in the southeast to the fishing village. The northwest of the island shapes an old tree-lined avenue. The port is located on the south shore of the island. There, the fishermen have docks for their boats, which are partly protected by a high stone wall. In addition, there are the docks for water taxis and ferries. Isola dei Pescatori still had 208 inhabitants in 1971, to the last census, but only 57, taken from Wikipedia
