Hello Rom@nce, many thanks!!

Hi Steve, my in-laws have moved temporarily to Foy near Ross-on-Wye & we were there having a visit. This is indeed a splendid castle, well worth a visit! Plenty of proper dangerous bits, too, so i didn't read any of the information panels, but spendt all my time making sure my son didn't post himself through windows into the moat below....

My in-laws have bought a new house near Welshpool, so that'll be another part of the world to explore soon.

Thanks to both!

I had never heard of this imposing castle until now Sarah. Your excellent photo portrays this fine ruin to perfection.

Cheers.

Sarah Castles are always sad structures built to oppress and exploit the locals, and in this case to suppress the Welsh nation. Which today has achieved its own identity through politics and not war. Thankfully we have become a more peaceful Isle. The Castle
