Keith, I just looked to see whether you'd posted a profile, and I was interested to read it. I share you aspiration and most of your post-processing habits, and I, too, dislike the bad use of HDR. One difference: I do use HDR sometimes when I my editing skills can't bring out the potential that I believe is there in the photographic images. But I do it with a light hand, and I hope that my attempts don't scream "HDR!"

In my profile I used that important word "yet". I'm sure that the subtle use of HDR would have worked better than my crude use of magic wand tool for selective lighting in this shot. In the original shot, the column of stone was a silhoette. When I read in one of your comments that you had used HDR on a shot I was viewing I was surprised because it wasn't obvious at all. If only others were as delicate in its use! Many thanks for your insightful comments, Marilyn.
