You sure do have lots of castles, Anne! It's just fascinating, seeing the way certain parts wear away but others last for hundreds of years. It also makes me think how there are lots of old stone buildings still in use today, and they'll probably still be in use in another hundred years. But these old castles have completely outlived their usefulness to anybody, so they just sit empty, slowly falling down.

Thanks for commenting on Gräfenstein Castle, Ryan! You're right in that these old castles have outlived their usefulness, but in medieval times they were of great importance and nowadays they are still witnesses of times long gone. I like visiting them and learning how people used to live in those times. And I imagine how difficult it must have been to build these castles with very simple means! It seems like a miracle to me. Cheers, Anne

I am so utterly intrigued! I would love to visit these places in person! You are so lucky to have been there, Anne! I would be in total Awe! I can only imagine how you felt walking among all of this magnificent history. So much to see and feel and wonder.
It is a lovely shot of something so grand. Far beyond what I can imagine!
All the best to you,
Mary Alice
