Penshaw Monument near Sunderland, North East England - a "Folly" built in 1844 on Penshaw Hill was designed by John & Benjamin Green and dedicated to John George Lambton`s Honour who was the Earl of Durham and the first Governor of Canada. Modeled on the Thesion, the Temple of Theseus in Athens, Penshaw stands above the local area on a limestone hill, Penshaw can be seen from as far as Durham Cathedral and the North Pennines.
