Ian

Can you tell me more about this substance?

It is quite different from the normal solar cell.

Thank you very much.

Cheers, Jeff

It is nice to hear from you, Jeff. Greetings to you and my deepest concern is expressed for the human tragedy in Szechwan Province. I received an email yesterday from a friend in Chengdu, and the NE part of the city where he lives is not an area of severe tragedy as are other areas. It was great to hear from him. But my heart goes out to the people of the nation, province and directly affected cities and rural areas.

Now in regard to your question, this item is a piece of art - a sculpture in metal - that has been erected in the atrium window of the former power station. It is not a functional solar generator. But I guess it signifies the transition from old sources of power to new sources; and is consistent with the transition of the former power station to a public art space and entertainment precinct.

So thanks very much for your response and question, for other viewers may also wonder.

Kind regards,

Ian

The Earthquark is a great concern and disaster in China. About 250,000 people - fireman, soldier, specialist, medical people... has been there for rescue work. A large number of charity donation activities are holding for it. It happens a lot of sad stories - orphans, disable, lost of another half.... It occurs quite sudden, while people is happy to wait for the coming of Olymphic. Hope the assistance can reach those people whom really need it.

Thanks for your reply and your care about Chinese. You are very mercy.

Cheers, Jeff

This work of art installed in the revamped Powerhouse at New Farm is the work of Sheridan Kennedy, entitled "Optogemel".
