Nice to see the face behind the legend.:) Some pretty impressive stats Hank. But seriously I've enjoyed our brief talks since I joined back in August of last year. You have enriched my experience here and I am thankful for that. And I hope I have been an inspiration to you at times. Keep shooting and thanks for sharing your photos from around the world and, of course, Your Brooklyn.

All the best, Tom

Thank you blai, you are too kind, and very generous with your praise. My Panoramio experience and the people I've met have truly energized me to see my photographs in a different way. It has been wonderful.

Thnaks again. My best regards,

Hank

Yep, that's me, Tom. I figured, after 1,002 posts I was entitled to say hi in person. My stats were shy. In honor of this event I actually counted the views, and there were collectively 517,875.

Since you and I first crossed paths, you've inspired me to explore the after-shot processes more and more. I just installed Photoshop CS3, and its your fault. I also enjoy your creative angles on scenic shots which keeps your work always fresh and different.

More from Brooklyn coming up soon.

Cheers,

Hank

I am truly sorry Hank that I have contributed to your ultimate demise by way of excessive post-processing. :) I haven't upgraded to CS3 yet so you're one step ahead of me now! Shooting in RAW yet? I certainly hope so now that you've got Capture NX and PS CS3.

Let me know if I can help share what little knowledge I do have. :)

Regards, Tom

Well thanks to you Tom, I've got a couple of test folders on my hard drive in RAW mode. I installed PS CS3 only yesterday, opened it up and decided this wasn't going to work without the tutorial, so I closed it again. The hardest part is finding and recognizing functions in PS with which I'm familar due to my experience with PSP.

I would absolutely call upon you for help, Tom; but you've done enough.

Cheers,

Hank

Thank you Jeff. It's been fun collecting and choosing the ones to post. I'm glad you like them. Best regards,

Howdy Hank -- I'll look forward to seeing your new CS3 work. I have just removed the CS3 package from my home machine, cuz it takes so long to load and didn't seem to add any useful improvements over PS 9. Let me know if you find any good reasons to reinstall.

Happy trails.

Hank Waxman, on May 16, said:

Hi there Bruce. For me this is like learning to walk all over again. I grew up with Paint Shop Pro going back to when it was shareware, and every time I looked at Adobe PS I got scared off. As the joke goes, "Now I are one."

Don't expect any overnight successes. I first have to figure out how to rotate and crop an image.

BTW, I was all wrong on my quoted statistics, not only in total views. I was only the 52,440th Panoramio member, not the 524,408th. So what's a decimal point among friends.

Since this was my anniversary post, I'm going to delete the inital comment and repost it with the correct stats.

Thanks for visiting,

Hank

INITIAL COMMENT AND STATS RE-POSTED FOR ACCURACY

Well depending on which counter you use, this is either my 1,000th Panoramio post or the 1,002nd.

It is intended, however, to mark a milestone that was set in motion in late 2006 when I joined Panoramio, and posted my first shot on December 28, 2006. I was the 52,440th person to join; there are more than 1-1/2 million today, not quite 17 months later.

My first picture was number 250,725. This picture in number 10,203,260.

I have just over 100 pictures that have been viewed 1,000 times, for a total of more than 228,000 views; my most popular picture has logged a respectable 35,522 visits alone. In total, I estimate my photos have been viewed more than 517,000 times collectively.

I share a human habit of validating achievements with statistics, but the true measure for me of my membership in Panoramio has been the friends I have made, the things I have learned, and the stretching I have done in my photography just to keep up with the growing galleries of my new friends.

I thank you all for your contributions to the quality of my work; for the encouragement and friendly exchanges in our “conversations.” I have enjoyed it all immensely.

Well done Hank, Very nice to see you 'in person'. Your photography has certainly been a pleasure to view. You were one of the first to visit my gallery when I joined and, when I returned the visit, I learned a lot from what you were posting. Thank you and keep it up for a long time to come.

You're very kind, George. Thanks for your ongoing critique of my efforts.

You've done quite an impressive work with the stats, Hank. The number of total views, whether an estimation or not, is overwhelming; I bet you're really proud of it. As I've already told you, you're one of my favorite photographers, and I look forward to seeing a thousand (might as well be ten thousand) more of your photos. Thanks for sharing your work—it's invaluable.

The photo itself is worth another yellow star. Not only because it is an honor to meet you but also because the Grand Canyon looks, as you say, inimitable. And those sunrays add much value to it.

Kind regards from Florida,

Andres

Hank Waxman, on May 21, said:

I really appreciate your comments Andres. I am extrememly proud of the achievement, and I'm delighted with the friends I've made on Panoramio. You've made me far more conscious of my photos, my subject matter and how I handle them when they need a little post-click work.

Thanks for your kind words.

Hardy congratulations Hank! You have helped spear head a movement. You unique perspective and essential productions are apart of what is the draw and what helps Google Earth go round. I'm pleased our paths have crossed many times both on the globe and on the 'puter.

I second Tom Lights offer on any assistance you may need with PS3. The Camera Raw version you may have with it should be updated right away if it is not already ver 4.4. This version has loads of control and is an immense improvement over CS2. You have the look of one willing to explore.

Kind Regards

Tom

Hank Waxman, on June 4, said:

Thanks for your wonderful compliment, Tom. Like the stats point out, I was far from the first person the discover Panormaio, but I am celebrating the year and a half that it has provided a break from some tedious 'puter chores and an introduction to many like minded new friends like yourself.

Thanks too for the kind offer of help. I can use all I can get.
