El Delta del Paraná es, en sentido geográfico, una transición entre la Mesopotamia y llanura pampeana. A pesar de su ubicación meridional, la presencia de grandes espejos de agua y la escasa altitud produce un microclima que favorece la proliferación de especies animales y vegetales que recuerdan a latitudes tropicales (por ejemplo, el brazo deltaico llamado Paraná de las Palmas lleva este nombre porque a la llegada de los europeos en el siglo XVI proliferaban palmerales de pindó).

The Paraná Delta is, in a geographical sense, a transition between the pampas and Mesopotamia. Despite its southern location, the presence of large bodies of water and low altitude produce a microclimate that favors the proliferation of animals and plants that resemble tropical latitudes (eg deltaic arm called the Paraná de las Palmas species is named because the arrival of Europeans in the sixteenth century proliferated palm of pindó).
