This House of Cultural Diversity, located on wonderful Plaza Ignacio Agramonte, won the Cuban Gold Medal Award for restoration in 2011. Architect was Yaxely Carmenates González.
The house belonged to Aurelia Castillo, Camagüey important poet of the late eighteenth century. His ancestors mortgaged the house in 1789, valued at about 6000 pesos. I think it was real peso, not CUC used by tourist in Cuba. Cuba is the only country I know, which have different currency for foreigners and own inhabitants.
There is much more information about this house, but just looking at the intricate work, it is clear that in belonged to a prominent Camaguey family.
