I visited this castle several times during my stay in Ireland,from 1962-1964. The caretaker told me that the rear of the castle (Overlooking the sea) fell into the sea during a large dinner celebration many years ago. The kitchen was housed in that area, and the kitchen and staff were lost. Below the castle there is a cave where the castle could be accessed from the sea via a passageway cut into the stone beneath the castle.
