Hello Edwin :) This is a historic photo from the Wikipedia article on the Roman town of Timgad. I wished it to appear on Google Earth for comparison with the current state of the arch.

The arch was repaired and partially rebuilt by the French in the early 1900s. The brick masonry supporting the central and right portals was removed and small white marble pillars that sat on the nubs above the small portals were replaced. Two of these were still in place a few years ago (seen in some Google Earth photos) but now both the small pillars and the statue have been removed.

This is probably the most photographed structure in the ruin and it is really quite impressive.

Thanks for your visit. Cheers, CB

chrmt and Paulo thanks for your visit. This is a historical photo that shows the arch as it was around 1880. It is restored now.
