Lake Vyrnwy boathouse

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The reservoir is Severn Trent Water's largest. When full, it can take as much as up to 59.666 gigalitres (1.3125×1010 imp gal), and it covers an area of 4.53 square kilometres (1,120 acres) of land, the equivalent of around 600 football pitches. The lake has a circumference of 11 miles (18 km) with a road that goes all the way around it. Its length is 4.75 miles (7.64 km).

The lake supplis the city of Liverpool with fresh water. Interestingly it is the water source used in the manufacture of Bombay Sapphire gin - very nice with ice lemon and tonic water! :)

I love the word 'ethereal' Joe. It describes the scene perfectly. I sure wouldn't go for a dook in this reservoir at any time of year - it's always deep and cold!

Warm regards, Amelia

Thank you very much for keeping this in your favourites Josi. We have visited this reservoir several times, but I have never seen it looking so pretty.

The little red door certainly adds something here Herb, and you are the first one to comment upon it. The tin of red paint was certainly worth the money. ;-)

Thank you so much for your visit and compliment.

Have a wonderful spring weekend, Amelia

Like it much! The warm red door of the little boathouse makes a good contrast to the cool winterscenery.

Have a nice Sunday, Angelika

There's a beautiful dream-like quality to this one, Amelia - brought to the "real world" by the two bright touches of red! Cheers, Marilyn

That is a lovely description Marilyn, thank you. This is the only bit of snow we have seen during this comparatively 'warm' and very wet winter. I hope you have thawed out now!

Warm wishes, Amelia

Nice photo Amelia; although it is obviously cold there is a hint of warmth from the light. Love the wavy reflections. LIKE!
