Unfortunately, it was only a four month contract. It was an incredible time however, one of those once in a life time opportunities. I was very fortunate to be able to go to Palmyra, and wish I could live out my days on such a lovely atoll!

My uncle Jim Carter was a US Navy Photographers Mate 2nd Class and was stationed on Palmyra during WWII. He used to talk about how inhospitable a place it was and how much he hated it.
