Well, jaqui, diversification is the only answer I believe: Biomass, wind, waves, drastic recycling, hydrogen and consuming less... There are still many powerful nuclear lobbies here, it's not difficult to understand that they want to make fast money. And the workers in this sector all say secutity has lowed down these last years because of the privatisations.
The exhibition is soon , do you come?
Talking about "dancing with disaster": the workers say the old power plants in Europe were built, maintained and administrated (public)with RISK ZERO. Since +- 2002 (private), they now talk about CALCULATED RISK...
BRRRRR
Though B is a rich and modern country, where everything seems to be under control, we have some old reactors that should be stopped in the next years, but there's a "public debate" to extand their activity for economical (and ecological they say!!!????) reasons. After France we are the biggest consumers of Nuclear Electricity in the World. This is one of our local treasures....
no no, this place really exists, it's in Antwerp, 50 kms North of Brussels. They are destroying a all village there to extand the harbour! And you know what? I just decided now to go there today to take some pics. See you!
