Superb sunlight and nice landscape

Well done, Marilyn. This isn't a point-of-view we often see of this place. Please take a couple of miuntes and map your new selection. I read in a Forum item that if there's a measurable lag time between posting and mapping, it might not get Google Earthed.

Welcome home!

Jackie BG on May 22, 2008

Marilyn , Hank is right. Map your photo in G.E. It's a nice one. Greetings. Jackie

Thank you both Evas, picsonthemove, Hank, and Jackie. And thanks for the prodding, Hank and Jackie; I've now mapped my Machu Picchu pictures as a start.

Our Machu Picchu guide looked at my pregnant daughter-in-law and at me, and led us on a "shorter" route. He saw that we could not get to some of the higher, more distant and more familiar dramatic viewpoints. I think that encouraged me to look harder for photos in the central part of the site. Hank, you will appreciate how pleased I was to notice those repeated angles!

Hank Waxman on May 22, 2008

You're welcome Marilyn, I could list the things I really like about this one starting with the different POV. Not only the repeating angles, but the extent to which they mirror - or at least compliment - the line of the mountains in the near distance is another.

You've captured at least four planes which creates great depth, and while my tastes lean towards using those planes to enhance the depth, this doesn't suffer much because they are so well defined.

Really, really a good one, here.

Thanks, Hank, for your further analysis--excellent as usual. I was sure you'd notice the way the constructed angles echo the natural ones. Not that I was thinking about that at the time! One of the things that fascinates me about photography is how I can see afterwards why an image appealed to me.

This is a very good picture of this magic place, Marilyn! I've seen many pictures of this place but none like this. It gives us an excellent impression of how it might have looked like 500 years ago. Greetings, Anne

Since I'm in total agreement I will not try to add anything to Hank's analysis of this image Marilyn. Very nicely done.

Regards, Tom
