'The Local', on Roncesvalles, since 2005. The name changes, paint is fresh, but the looks stays the same.

The Local, is on the Roncesvalles only since 2005 or 2006, but looks well established. Located just beside a repertory movie house Revue, it has good chance of surviving longer. It is a pub and it's name fits! It has live music occasionally and otherwise good vibe.

The Local's predecessor was Café May, which I used to infrequently frequent. Movies were even more popular then, but the service in Café May was either indifferent or nonexistent. Not exactly sure, why they closed (on this spot since the 1970's), but that may have been one of the reasons. The owner, Keiko Ota was also probably getting old for this kind of business.

I have no clue, what was there originally, but it may have been something pseudo Swiss.
