These are actually called Common Shags or European Shags. They are very interesting birds! This is a nice close-up!
Thank you again Liam for your interest in my photos. My camera is a Canon SX1 IS which is very flexible and the 20x optical zoom which is brilliant for the casual snapper like me. My friend has a Nikon SLR but has to change lens's a lot and carry a lot of gear. Your knowledge of birds seems great and I will amend my titles again.
I plan to get a Canon PowerShot SX20 IS. If this is good (awesome, really), then how good must the SX20 IS be? I currently have a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS.
Hi Liam I know the SX20 IS is out now but if you have the money I don't think it will be too long before the SX2 might be out. I find the HD video on the SX1 a great asset. Check out a few I have on youtube just search for srtully.
I hope the SX2 will come out soon, but I doubt it will be much better than the SX1. I have a SX110. They recently made a SX120, and it's not that much better, but if the SX2 is cheaper than the SX20, then I might be willing to buy one. Currently, the SX1 is above the amount I am willing to spend at the moment.
I just found out that the SX10 is the new version of the SX1 and the SX20 IS is the new version of the SX10 IS. Well....I ordered a Canon PowerShot SX20 IS on Saturday. Can't wait until it comes in.
Hi Ospr3y as far as I know there is not a new version of the SX1 IS as the the SX10 IS does not have the CMOS sensor or the 1080p Full HD video. Hopefully as the SX20 IS the replacement for the SX10 IS is out,a SX2 IS should not be too far behind. If you have other info please let me know as I check on Canon's UK site for the latest.
Good luck with your new purchase and let me know how you like it. Especially under difficult low light conditions.
Okay, I see. The SX10 IS is not the predecessor of the SX1 IS. I'll you know how I like it.
