Elephants in the city, Derrick S. Hudson. 2002.

Commerce Court buildings form an courtyard plaza with a fountain and with a sculpture by Derrick Stephan Hudson.

'Tembo, Mother of Elephants', was completed in 2002 and installed on site in 2005. The two babies look a bit undernourished.

These are the only decent size elephants (Mama Tembo is 9'-1" x 16'-0") left in the city, as 3 other (live) elephants departed from Toronto ZOO for sunny California in October 2013.

Too cold, even for elephant skin! 4 (real) elephants died in Toronto in four years.

There are few more sculptures of elephants in Toronto. There are four near DV Parkway, which I pass almost every week.
