Just want to know when it was? Because we want to climb by the western breach. Was it very difficult by this way? Have a nice day and thank yo so much for your answer.

The Western Breach is now closed, it has been for the last few years--I climbed it last (my third time) in August 2005, I believe it closed in November or December 2005.

I don't recommend trying to climb it this way while the park has closed the route--the park officials are not amused by tourists who break the rules. Your guide would get in trouble for sure and you would face a hefty fine.

The other routes on the mountain are now more crowded because of the Western Breach closure. I would not recommend Kilimanjaro if you want a wilderness experience in solitude. It is still a good adventure, just with many, many friends.

We climbed the Western Breach in August 08. It was open. My brother was sent down from Arrow Glacier. He suffered altitude sickness but my blind brother-in-law made it! It was a tough day, starting before sunrise but well worth it! Everyone in my party except me slept at the camp inside the cone. I was suffering too much so I made the summit then hiked down with a guide to a lower camp (I believe it was Barafu). I highly recommend the Breach (if it's open)
