Hello Roma, Yes Bobby Robson was the Ipswich Town football manager in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Under him Ipswich won the FA Cup and UEFA Cup and they also should have won the English Championship when they beat eventual winners Aston Villa three times in that season ( home, away and in the FA Cup ). Due to his success he became the England Manager. They did very well under him reaching the World Cup quarter finals, beaten by Argentina ( Hand of God goal by Maradonna ) and then 4 years later the Semi-finals being beaten by Germany in a penalty shootout. After leaving England he became manager of clubs like PSV, Barcelona, two Portuguese clubs and then returning to his home area of Newcastle. He managed to get them into the Champions League. A couple of months ago he died of cancer. This statue is quite unusual as it was erected before he died. Ipswich Town have now named the North Stand after hime and he also has a bridge with his name in the Town. Ipswich is also very proud to have had two other successful managers; Sir Alf Ramsey who was the England Manger when they won the World Cup in 1966 and the current Scotland Manager is George Burley who was an Ipswich player and manager. Hope this gives you some information Roma. ( Not too much info ! ) Cheers Wiggy
