Bonjour Graham.
From all the works on this serie of Beech avenue, I seem to go back and back again to this particular one. I seem to appreciate the depth of the green color in this shot more than in the others. And the hidden end of this upgoing road, sheltered by this grand tunnel de verdure, is so full of hope and promises. Yes, I believe I would like to walk that path to it's very end.
With an elf or two. But could do without.
Greetings from the Land of the Rising Sun and Nowadays Pouring Rains.
Graham Hobbs, on June 12, 2008, said:
As I said above, It's one of my favourites too, Andre - the elves have been largely driven away by the traffic and its exhaust fumes, but at 6:17 on a Sunday morning in May, you might think that you catch a glimpse... we've had pouring rains (or at least heavy cloud) most of the time since that morning. Thanks for your comments :) Graham

it would be a great road to drive, Tony, if you had it all to yourself like on a car commercial - but...
Tony Reid, on June 25, 2008, said:
I'm going to Y* this shot - even if just out of frame is a 20-ton truck bearing down the road.
=)
Graham Hobbs, on June 25, 2008, said:
thanks Tony - apreciated - you'll see on my comments for the middle of the road shot that I even bracketed exposures for possible HDR use, so it really was quiet for once. :-D
Tony Reid, on June 25, 2008, said:
Well it should be quiet at 6:15am on a Sunday morning!!
Never done any HDR stuff.

After some time I returned to find these photos, and now I think this is another exceptional photo.
Congratulations again and we'll send a cordial greeting.

Josep - It's one of my favourites of a special morning. they've recently chopped down about 20 more trees, and others will follow, so it was a real blessing to see them so much at their best. thanks for your kind words. Graham

Very beautiful composition, fantastic colours! Y*. Greetings from Germany, Reiner
Graham Hobbs, on September 2, 2008, said:
Thanks T NL, thanks Reiner - one of my favoutites, as I said above - AND, as said on another pic, they've just had to chop down another twenty or so trees (old age)- so I'm so glad I got some of the pics I'd been meaning to take for ages on the last May that some of the trees saw. Graham

I love how the tree limbs hover over the entire street. So mysterious since I cannot see where this road is taking me. Great shot, greetings from Connecticut.
Graham Hobbs, on September 12, 2008, said:
Hi Jason - yuh, it's extraordinarily difficult to get the shot you want of this avenue (getting more so as they chop more trees down, due to old age. it's one of those cases where you have to go with instinct, as the the old brain is a bit slow. all the bends and undulations (and gaps in the trees make it difficult to get the shot you think you want, of a long straight avenue full of perspective etc, but in the end you find just what you describe, which is even better. Even the missing trees contribute, giving shaftes of light across the road. thanks for your comments - personal reactions are always the best! Graham

You did a great job of capturing the feeling of the old soldiers, Graham. They are old and gnarled, but they still manage to muster for one more season, fully at attention. I like this one a lot.
Graham Hobbs, on September 24, 2008, said:
I love your poetic reading of this, not1word - thanks for that and all your other kind comments. Unless you specialise in photographing red X's, I'm having trouble loading your gallery at the moment, but I look forward to browsing it when the technology allows. Graham

Graham Hobbs, on October 10, 2008, said:
Thanks picsonthemove - I think the difference is that most of the are hedges that have been allowed to torn into trees before meeting over the top of your car - this one was planted specially - the only problem being that that means that they all die of old age at the same time, which these are doing :-( Graham

Hi Graham, this picture is great in all aspects, in addition, I keep it in my favorites, with the yellow star (score 10) and I will give you! Rioja best panoramio!. Saludos desde España. Salvador.
Graham Hobbs, on February 14, said:
Thank-you so much for your generous words Salvador - it is nowhere near my most viewed picture of this avenue, but it was the shot I was most certain was good at the time of taking - and it got a 'highly commended' in a national Photographic Competition - so it can't be too bad. Graham

It was a wonderful spring morning Александр Вальтерович - and so many wonderful pictures to be taken. - I think if I were to add up theviews of picturs taken that morning, they would be maybe half my total views.

Hi folk's -It's about a year since I posted this - I was just totting up - the twelve pictures from that morning have totalled just under 23,000 views between them with no 'promotion' of any sort. Not bad for a morning when I didn't even intend to wake up early ;D
Thanks to everybody for your support.

Graham,
it's a point of view Everyone who leave a comment on your pictures will see the picture again, if someone othe comment it and that starts a kind of chain reaction. If I get a comment I go to the commentors portfolio and look and comment his or her shots. Thanking for comments on my pictures I do months later, as a reminder where to look

I suppose what I meant is that I have done nothing active to try to get people to look at the pictures picsonthemove, and so it the beauty of the scene, not my efforts that has lead people to look. :)

Graham The lighting and composition of this is outstanding. I am a bit like yourself when it comes to adding images to my yellow star gallery they are few and far between but I now have 2 from this series that I feel are more than worthy. Wow 23000 views from 12 images thats more than my entire gallery. Chris
Graham Hobbs, 15 days ago, said:
thanks Chris - much appreciated - particularly as you're somebody who is more interested in good pictures than view counts - regretably there are too many ways to manipulate viewing figures to give them much credence - a meaninful comment from a respected photgrapher is worth far more - but the whole way it works in pano is a view-rich getting richer and view poor geeting poorer - my most popular picture is picking up about 80 views a day and increasing - if a new picture, not entered in a comp. was doing that, I'd be thrilled - but is that picture so much five times as good as even my next best? I don't think so! I suppose i'm a bit guilty of bigging things up even by my comments above - but it's more a question of marking a point that i can look back on later to feel a sense of progress- however illusory - the only worst thing is to let what picks up views distract you from following your own photographic vision - and I've even been guilty of that at times - fortunately it usually hasn't worked ;D
thanks for the visit and kind words
Graham
