Hi, just letting you know this playgound is (was) actually in monash, and was called the monash playground. They have now pulled it down and updated it. I havent seen many pic's of the old one though ...thankyou for sharing it..
Thanks for adding this picture. I visited Monash playground in the late 80's (when I was early teens) and again in 1992 (aged 15) and have many excellent memories of it. It easily claimed the title of the best playground in the world. I am about to embark on a trip to South Australia with my two young kids and am stopping by the new playground. I'm not sure if I'll bawl my eyes out at the desecration done to it in comparison to this version.
Oh I miss the old Monash Playground! The new one is good for kids, but the old one was great for young and old! I did find many of the old pieces of equipment in Mildura at a park called Snakes and Ladders. The slippery-dip on the left is in one piece, the one on the right is broken into two smaller slides and I don't recall seeing the middle one. If only I could find the roller coasters!
Most people I know had at one stage or another injured themselves on that playground. Great memories!!. Many a day was taken up by sliding down the Large slide (1 of three in the 1 structure). The place came to life at night tho. There were always cars there in the early hours as groups of people would call in and ride equipment on their way home from a night out. The slide was scary for a child but try sliding down the large slide at night. Unfortunately because of potential lawsuits it was decided to remove the equipment and replace it with equipment less likey to injure.
the monash playground was practically my second backyard, i had so much fun growing up in it, i also had a lot of fun scaring tourist with things that were just second nature to me. it is 1 place i will never forget
