Thanks, izahorizonta. It was an interesting ride on my motorbike.

Try coming down it on a ten speed, in the rain, in a cycle race! I still have nightmares. This picture shows the curves wonderfully.

I tried a bike with pedals once, but found the engine lacking! That road turns into a river sometimes when it rains so I can imagine the fear and excitement!
Did you notice the local bus service halfway up? "Keswick via Honister" seems quite ambitious for a ten year old Mercedes midi-bus!

No offence, but I didn't realize it was a bus! (But it is a long way away). But to make amends, I will point out there is a bloke on a bike going up the hill just in front of the bus. Looks hard work these days.
I like the "Great Roads" idea. Keep them coming!

I like this shot! Have you tried Hardknott and Wrynose Passes? Greetings from Germany
skida, on October 4, 2008, said:
Thanks cOlOgne1. I first did Hardknott and Wrynose Passes many years ago on my Suzuki GT125. I was in 1st gear most of the way!

I was in a car with somebody else driving, it was fun. We met a few whitefaced motorists though ;-)

I was a bit whitefaced on Hardknott and Wrynose myself! Luckily I was too scared to try and turn around so I finished the run. Nowadays I am a bit more confident in my abilities.
Last time I was there the smell of burning clutch was very evident. ;)
