Good mix of textures. It's a teaser, in a way 'cause I'd like to see around the building to the valley that must stretch for miles.

Thank you, Daniel, Tamás, Hank, and Bruce.

Yes, Hank, a bit of a teaser. But some teasers ought to remain that way. The valley does stretch for miles, but there's no center of interest, and at this time of day (and with moisture in the air), no sharp enough patterns of light and dark to make it stand on its own in a photo. So it's best if the viewer is left wondering!

Great shot Marilyn, and interesting in being different to the "classic" views that people always seem to take.

Thank you, Pixelbug, skida, Sylvie, and Eva, for all your kind words. As I explained on another photo, my knees wouldn't take me to some of the "classic" viewpoints, and I think that helped me look around more carefully to see what views I could find. Cheers, Marilyn

Steep slopes indeed! I like these bits of roof and stone making unusual angles. Cheers, Ryan

Marilyn Whiteley on June 13, 2008

Thanks, Ryan. You understand why my knees said "Let's not go to extremes!" Cheers, Marilyn

Wow! Gold stars for this one, Marilyn***! Great perspective - you've caught the feel of vertigo very well. This one goes into my favorites. I'm going through your gallery backwards and I think your photos are only getting better. The down-side to that is it's going to take me a lonnnnnggg time to get to page 1 ;). Warm greetings, alicia

Marilyn Whiteley on July 2, 2008

Thanks, Luud and Alicia, for your comments, and Alicia for the star. All of Machu Picchu is amazing!

I'm flattered, Alicia. Take your time. I hope you don't get bored!

Best wishes, Marilyn
