The Mission San Diego de Alcalá was founded in 1769 by Padre Junípero Serra. It was the first of the 21 Spanish missions in Alta California (today's California), from San Diego to Sonoma. It is now a major historic site of San Diego, California. In this photo there is the Campanario or bell wall, seen from inside the Mission gardens. Feb.2006
