wow, alicia, I'm sooo envious! Here in Massachusetts, about the best I've been able to do was this speck in the distance, and even that was a thrill! they're increasing in numbers around here. Hopefully one day we'll have them back at even half of what you have there in the PNW. (Until then I have to settle for my swans and geese, and, an egret or two!) Cheers!
Look at the size of this magnificent creature! I still can't believe you were this close! No wonder he was warning you.
You can really get an idea of how huge he is in proportion to that crab in his mouth. It's just amazing that you happened to be there when he stopped for lunch!
YOu did a outstanding job of capturing him so beautifully, Alicia! I am so jealous, but VERY proud of you! :)
Wow! Thank you everyone for your visits and kind (and entertaining ;)) comments!!
kamaly - as I mentioned in my other eagle shot, I felt extremely lucky to get these shots! Even though the cruising eagle in your photo is so distant, it is a lovely photo and if you're like me, the eagles still take your breath away even at that distance - they always make me pause in whatever I'm doing. At least you have swans, geese and an egret or two over there :D - I've never even seen an egret.
farina sim, e um mais perto de mim do que I' VE vista nunca - I' m tão contente eu posso compartilhar dele com você!
Hello Vadim - it's good to see you here as well, and you are very kind. I'm sorry I don't know the meaning of "IMHO" - ?
capicua thank you for a new visit and yes, the eagle was happy with his catch (probably just a quick morsel for him though ;)) and so was I with mine!
And Mary Alice it's always a delight to have you visiting! That was a good sized dungeness crab and when he raised his head he came up to about my waist (the eagle;D). I actually photographed him from up on the bluff then decided oh what the heck I'll just run down to the beach, nothing to lose... so I was very careful to approach him very slowly.
Yves - always a delight as well! I hope you can see an eagle up close someday.
And Jim I have to say that I oftentimes take revenge on crab myself - very tasty! ;D. I think I got my fingers in the way of a crab when I was little - but by no means one this big. I'm sure it does hurt - sounds like you have ;(
I truly hope all of you can see an eagle up close someday. In the meantime thank you again for your praises and I'm just glad that I can share my photo. Cheers to you all, alicia
Alicia, I've come in after the chorus has already sung its praises, but I still want to and my voice. What a wonderful experience and a wonderful photo! Cheers, Marilyn
Marilyn it's always good to see you, no matter where or when. Thank you so much for your comments - it was indeed a memorable experience, one that I wish on everyone :D. Cheers back to you, -alicia
Greetings, Billy and thank you for your compliments and visit to my lucky eagle shot. Your heron is beautiful ! and I will swing by.
Paula now I know where you're from ;) and thank you for your visit and compliments as well! Also thank you for the definition of IMHO - now it makes sense.
Although I think that, as per Marilyn's variation, Vadim probably meant it as that, seeing that he is so modest ;). Thank you, Marilyn for your most welcome return!

Greetings Alicia.
It is a comforting image to see bird revenge on crab.
Have you ever had your fingers pinced by these pesky crustaceans ??
IT HURTS
Cheers (¬j^)

Paula By the way, I hope you don't mind if I mention that IMHO stands In My Honest Opinion! Cheers!
... or "in my humble opinion."
Anyway, I'm glad to have yet another opportunity to look at this wonderful photo. Marilyn
