Nice shot Mary Alice and another interesting little history: nice contrasts between the red brick and the greys in the steeple.

Best Regards,

Séan.

Thank you so much for visiting, Sean! I'm glad that you enjoyed this church! I've always thought that it was really pretty with it's pointy steeple and bright red door! You are very observant as well, taking note of the bricks and the beautiful greys in it's steeple. This church was actually used as our bandroom when I was in high school, but now it is once again used for a church. ( but not the methodist.) It sits right next to our old high school, which actually looks very much like it in character. Same bricks and such. It was all built at the same time. I will post up a picture of the school soon! :)

Thanks so much for your visit, Sean. I'm sure you're already in the bed, but I hope you slept well, and that the morning finds you well and rested. :)

Best regards,

Mary Alice

Beautiful picture and colours. Nice weather vane. In Holland animals are often used. In my hometown it's a horse. Have a wonderful day, Jan

Thank you Mary Alice for your kind wishes :-) and the additional history of this fine building and your home town/city. You are right to be proud of it and Thomaston can be proud of your efforts in displaying it to the world.

I hope you are having a fine day and the temperature is getting back to a liveable level :~)

Warmest Regards (well you know what I mean),

Séan.

You chose a beautiful time of day to shoot this, Mary Alice! The light is simply wonderful. Yes, that type of corner steeple was so very common in Methodist churches of that era!

Best wishes, Marilyn

Jan, Thank you so much for visiting! What interesting facts you pointed out about the weather vanes! Do you all really have a horse on the top of a church steeple? Wow! I'd like to see that. I've only seen crosses on the tops of the ones around here! I'm so glad that you stopped by, and thank you for your compliments!

Sean, Your sassy WIT keeps me smiling! :) Thank you for your wishes for cooler temperatures! Today we were only in the upper nineties, so its looking a little better! Thank you! Thank you also for the very kind things you said about Thomaston and my efforts! You are so thoughtful. Your nice remarks really mean a lot to me.

Marilyn,Thank you so much for stopping by this evening. It's always a treat to see you here. I'm so glad that you noticed the lighting on this shot! I was very pleased with it as well, as I usually am not actually up this early! It was just a lucky moment! :) Thank you very much for your visit and praise! I hope you're enjoying your evening!

Thank you all again for stopping by.

Hi Mary Alice, in my hometown it's a horse and in nearby places it's a cock or a cross. Here is an exsample of the church of Leek a nearby town. Greetings, Jan

If you enlarge this photo, you could watch in detail gothic aestetic.

Sober and austere in decoration but very beautiful and with many personality.
