David (ayrshireman) was curious about ice roads.

Picture taken much earlier this year. ;D

It is Hamzars....I posted a picture of the warning sign here.

Vehicles have gone through the ice before (I'm not sure if they have at the above location or not though). If the car went right through your chances of survival would be almost nil (first you'd have to get back up to the hole, that your vehicle went through, and of course the water temperature is damn cold). Those that ended up in the water when the Titanic sank had less than 2 minutes to get out (and then you have to get dried warm fast....).

Cool! (bad pun) I like the mix between the ice texture and tire tracks. I guess this is proof that at least one or two cars made it across.

Ryan it is indeed proof and it also included our car. :D We did like seeing that others had made it though before we went onto it. ;)

I found it exciting to go across.....my husband growled at me and said it was because I can swim. I said to him that, given the coldness of the water, I wouldn't be any better off them him so it wasn't worth worrying about. ;)

Cheers to you, Pam

But still Pam, it's so fun to drive around on ice! I still remember very well, a couple of years ago my uncle took me and another kid for a ride on a frozen lake. When he locked the brakes the car would spin and spin - great as long as it's something you want to happen... ;)

hi pam nice to come back and see your pictures!

I guess there will be summer too over there in Moosejaw.

In Washington we met a guy at the breakfast and that was a Canadian too. We talked about the Can.Ambassy we saw and he did knew M.J. and even Regina. That was pretty funny.

We took ice roads for granted for years. They were considered safe and them that fell through just unlucky.

I grew up not very far from where this picture was taken - It's very safe and the only people who go through the ice are the ones who drive off the ice road. It's checked everyday at different intervals for ice thickness and integrity. But really fun to slide around on!

Dear Pam,

I see that you have begun to communicate on Pano again. Welcome back, and know that while you have been attending to family responsibilities you have remained part of our concern. And the summer did come and the ice road has melted, and the bison have fattened on the Prairies.

Warmest regards,

Ian (Currently in Tonga)
