Borobudur, a Buddhist stupa located 25 miles north-west of Yogyakarta, is the largest Buddhist monument on earth. It was built between 750 and 850 CE by the Javanese rulers of the Sailendra dynasties. It consists of at least 2.000.000 stone blocks. From above it has the form of a giant mandala. The base is 403 feet long.
