Dear Bram, I am Dr. Alexandros Frantzis from the Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute, a scientific NGO studying whales and dolphins in Greece. You have photographed short-beaked common dolphins (Delphinus delphis), which are not common at all anymore despite their name. This species has disappeared from the biggest part of the Mediterranean Sea. A few populations units still survive in the northern Aegean Sea. Would you be kind enough to provide the exact date (or month and year at least) that you took the photo and describe as well as you can the position (e.g. confirm the position as appears in GoogleEarth or say that it was 300 m south-east of Marathonisi), together with the total number of animals that you observed. You can contact us at pelagos.info@otenet.gr or www.pelagosinstitute.gr Thank you in advance!
