Auke,
In 1999 I went on an adventure cruise entitled, "The Remote Island of the South Pacific", and it was on that cruise that I got to visit both Henderson and Pitcairn along with a number of other islands. The Canadian company that ran the cruise went of out business a year later.
Pitcairn is visited several times a year by large cruise ships. I think Henderson is much less visited though I imagine some adventure companies must go there occassionally.
Here's a very strange coincidence, Auke. A German fellow I met when I visited Pitcairn was named Hendrick Roos. Here's what I wrote about him in my journal:
"To resume with yesterday, I arrived back at the town’s square to find preparations for lunch well underway. I found the blond fellow I’d met at the landing site again and we started talking and we really hit it off. His name is Hendrick Roos and his wife’s name is Nicola and they are a German family, which has emigrated here to Pitcairn. So far as I know, they are the only ones which have wanted to do this and who have been approved for a very long time. They have three small children - two boys and a girl. Hendrick is 31 and, I believe his wife is the same or very close to it as they were in University together."
It's just a strange coincidence that I've never met anyone with the last name of Roos prior to Pitcairn and then you write me and this is your last name as well.
Hendrick and his wife left Pitcairn less than a year after I met them and ended up in the town of Gisbourne in New Zealand and that was where I last had contain with them. I'm not sure where they are now.
If you'd like, I can send you a DOC file with my logbook from this entire trip. The file is about 3.5 MB in size. Let me know.
Cheers!

Hendrick is still in Gisborne - he has changed his name to Hendrick Geyer and works for the local council as manager of the Olympic Pool.
