Right on the north west edge of Brownhills stands the sad husk of the Pear Tree cottage.

Many of the pubs of Brownhills have long since gone - and several have recently closed. The Jolly Collier, The Warreners Arms, The Wheel Inn, The Wheatsheaf, The Railway Tavern have all been lost. Some were lost to developers, some to changes in society and now some to harsh business conditions. The Pear Tree Cottage has now gone too, and with it a community loses another focal point.

I used to have to go fetch my big brother out that pub many sunday lunchtime for dinner!

I used to like a pint in the Pear Tree myself on occasions. It's sad to see so many pubs closing - they're part of the social glue that holds us all together and anecdotes like yours will be lost on the generation being born now. Somehow, a little bit of Britain is being lost forever.
