Goodmorning Geerten.Just been looking at GE and saw the colour of this road and the beautiful Salmon Gums (trees). I think also by the look of this country one would see plenty of wildlife,Kangaroo's, Emu's and the Wedge Tailed Eagle. Did you eventrually drive through here or did the sign put you off!!!! :-) Its a great photo and I want it in my favorites.Y*. My Very Best Regards, David

This is a road I travelled many many times in the 1970's and 1980's. It can be traversed by 2 wheel drive, I only ever drove through it in a 2WD Holden ute. I actually graded and widened about 100kms of the Eastern section of this road in the early 1980's, at my own expense. It would still be a good track if idiots didn't try to travel through it, when it rained, or immediately after rain. It's strictly a dry-weather road. Never travel this road without advising someone of your movements, and ensure they come looking for you, if you don't arrive at your destination by a certain time. Always ensure you carry at least 20 litres of water. If you break down out there, it's a long lonely walk of 100kms or more, to civilisation!

that's a nice story Onetrack... despite the fact that I knew all these warnings, a few months earlier I took a scenic alternative route of the Birdsville Track round Lake Machattie Qld. I nearly got stuck in a mud-pool.... I did carry food and a jerrycan of water, but... anything could have happened if I'd got stuck.. never did such a thing again.. cheerio
