I took this photo of Australia's highest hut (Seamans Hut) on a trip to Australia's highest peak - Mt Kosciuszko (2,229m) in late spring.

The story of Seamans Hut (sourced from an external web site):

This hut commemorates Laurie Seaman, an American who died in 1928 while attempting to ski cross-country to Mount Kosciuszko. Laurie and a companion, Evan Hayes, became separated from the other members of their group, then became lost in a blizzard and eventually perished from exposure.

Seamans Hut was built in 1929 with money donated by Laurie's family as a refuge for others who might need shelter in the mountains.
