Mt Kosciuszko is the highest point on the Australian Mainland at 2,229 metres above sea level.
This photo, taken in mid spring, shows the trig at the top of the mountain and Mt Townsend (snow covered) in the back ground.
Many old stories say that it was Mt Townsend (and not Mt Kosciusko) that was originally climbed and claimed as the highest peak by polish explorer Stezleki.
Mt Townsend is around 30m lower in altitude than Kosciuszko.
Great photo !
