I don't know much about Horncastle's history I'm afraid. As I'm sure you know, but just for anyone else reading this, the pub is about level with (and to the left of) the buff-coloured classical bulding in the far distance. Horncastle has several historical groups - try the Civic Society on info@horncastlecivic.org.uk. Best wishes.
