Dave, I was on the same spot for a sunrise. Cadillac Mountain is touted to be the first place in the USA to see the sunrise. I didn't realize the sunsets were so beautiful as well.

It's true, I missed the sunrise but made it for the sunset July 9,2009. I have a picture posted of the plaque that states the claim that if you are at that point early enough, you will be one if the "the first in the US to see the sunrise".
