The Great Smokies are in the distance. The Appalachian Trail is a few feet away from this spot. Franklin lies below behind that mountain to the right of the airport. Behind me is a 'bald' area with no trees. It is a grassy spot with a road around it. It is a good spot to come to watch the stars at night.
