Please don't tell stories that you don't know. This was not a barn but one of two houses on this homestead.

The "story" was from a local, so I took it in good faith. House was near one of the Oregon Trails.

Is ok, dand2000. My brother, above, probably meant to say it was the house where our father, two aunts, and uncle were born. The other house he mentions is just to the south and west of the one you pictured and no longer is down to the foundation timbers now. It belonged to our great-great grandfather. The uncle was the doctor and his practice was based in Wheatland, WY. He did have a clinic in Guernsey.
The house is closer to the Mormon Trail as the Oregon Trail is to the south of Guernsey.

Sorry...typo: The other house he mentions is just to the south and west of the one you pictured and is down to the foundation timbers now. (delete the "no longer")

all right, let's get some history straight. Only one son was born at the homestead. The three daughters were born at their maternal grandparents homestead and the younger son was born at the CF&I hospital in Sunrise, Wy. The family moved from the homestead to Hartville, Wy which is/was nearer via trails than Wendover. This immgrant family struggled, but the all four living children (one died as an infant)graduated from college. The two daughters went into education; one a math teacher and one a music teacher later a school principal; the older son became a meterolotist; the younger son(deceased)was a doctor. The older son lives in Guernsey, Wy. This homestead was still standing in the Fall of 2008, and the great-great grandfather's homestead, while minus a roof remains a visable structure. And yes,the family's name is Howshar.
